CAVING
LAMPRECHTSOFEN

The Lamprechtsofen cave system is one of the largest in the world with about 40 known kilometres and a height difference of almost 2000 metres.

The cave guide equips participants with a protective suit, helmet with headlamp and climbing harness. Firstly a few instructions and then the tour can begin at the entrance of the publicly accessible show cave and soon branches off from the normal route into the Explorer`s Section. In places it can get very narrow, so climbing and crawling are par for the course. Look out for the drag marks of millions of years and stone formations, which suddenly appear in the light of the headlamp. We`ve to be careful of the level of water in the cave stream – this could block the way back.
